5 Ways Sports Medicine Gets You Back in the Game
Many athletes have injuries that keep them sidelined for a while. This can be difficult for young athletes who want to get back to playing their favorite sports. At 3D Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center, we work with athletes to get them back in the game as soon as it is safe.
Returning to the sport too soon after an injury can keep an athlete out of the game permanently. We encourage our patients to be patient while we help them with a fast recovery.
1. Quick Analysis
It is important for the person experiencing a sports injury to see a doctor immediately. We try to schedule an appointment within 24 hours of the time you notify us about a sport-related injury.
We offer x-rays, MRI and other diagnostic services immediately to locate the problem. We discuss your injury in detail and recommend the treatment procedures. Many sports injuries do not require surgery.
2. Scheduled Surgery
Dr. David Dominguez and his associates at 3D Sports Medicine are experienced with minimally invasive surgical techniques that lead to better healing. This includes arthroscopic surgery. More extensive joint replacement surgery may be necessary.
Surgery is scheduled as soon as possible. If we cannot facilitate the injury, you are referred to another expert.
3. Follow Up
We schedule follow-up appointments to monitor your healing. You will meet with our trainers who will advise you and work with you and physical therapists to rehabilitate the injury.
4. Sports Training
Sports medicine includes trained professionals who work with you throughout the healing process to keep the rest of your body in shape while your injury heals. We will also discuss ways to prevent further injuries.
5. Pain Management and PRP
We work with patients of all ages on pain management. We don’t want anyone to experience pain and we do not want our patients dependent on pain control medication.
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is helpful for joint injuries and chronic pain relief for tendonitis, arthritis and other conditions. This process of injecting people with their own high platelet count blood has proven effective in getting athletes back in action.
PRP is used extensively by professional athletes to speed healing and reduce pain in joints after injuries or surgery. This minimally invasive treatment is also used with regenerative stem cell therapies.
