Sprains, Strains, & BruisesMost sports injuries are a result of minor trauma to muscles, ligaments, and/or tendons. Symptoms include immediate localized swelling, pain, and/or discoloration.
Growth Plate InjuriesSome sports injuries may affect the growth plate. The growth plate is the area of developing tissues at the end of the long bones in growing children and adolescents. When growth is complete, sometime during adolescence, the growth plate is replaced by solid bone.
Overuse InjuriesPain injuries such as stress fractures (a hairline fracture of the bone that has been subjected to repeated stress) and tendinitis (inflammation of a tendon) can occur from overuse of muscles and tendons. Overuse injuries in young athletes are most commonly seen in the shoulder, hip, knee, and ankle.

"I would like to share my story about my experience with Dr. Dominguez & the 3D Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center. Last November I had ran the Tough Mudder for the second time along with many other races. Well this time the Mudder bit me coming over an 8 ft wall. At the top of the wall as I was ready to head over, another runner had grabbed the top of my foot which led to me coming straight down with my left leg, shredding my Medial Meniscus & ACL. I was referred to Dr. Dominguez by my friend Trish Facciobene to have it looked at. Two weeks later, I was under the knife and in Surgery. I have to say, I have never been so pleased as I was with the Doc & Staff. It has been 9 weeks since surgery & I am on the mend. Not overdoing it but am back to doing light crossfit at Crossfit Outspoken and feeling great. I know that Ive got a bit to go in recovery, but rest assured, if it weren't for the 3D Sports Med crew, I don't think I would be healing this well."K.F. - ACL Surgery Patient
